You are just about 16 months old (on Monday!), I can't believe how fast it has gone. It's one of the biggest cliches ever, but oh so true. The saying goes: The days drag on, but the years fly by.
I just wanted to take a moment to document some of the things you are doing these days. You have developed quite the big personality, and are a little ham. I find it interesting that both dad and I are very introverted, yet you crave the spotlight and attention. I like that about you though, I think it will help you once you start school. Being shy is not fun, so I hope that you'll continue to be friendly and outgoing into your adult years.
| Good Morning Sunshine! |
Right now you are all about music, music, music. You got your dad's sense of rhythm and love to play ANY toy that plays music. We got you a little guitar and piano, but you aren't very interested in those, you like LISTENING to music right now, not playing it. You also got your mommy (and grandparents) love of dancing! You are THE BEST dancer ever. You will always find music to dance to, on commercials, in the car, in the store, everywhere. But, the funniest part is that you find music (or rhythm) in just about anything. You currently dance when the blender is on, the vaccumm, the food processor, it's pretty funny. I hope this love of music continues, it would make your dad and grandpa very happy.
Your favorite time of day is in the morning, or at least, that's when you are the happiest! I love listening to you talk to your self in your crib. You are quite the chatterbox. Sometimes, when I go in to your room to get you, you don't want to get out of your crib. You particularly like hiding under the blankets.
Your other favorite thing is baths! From the very first bath you had in the hospital, you've loved them! You've never cried or been afraid of water, but you do cry and throw a fit when it's time to get out of the bath. We usually let you play in the tub for up to an hour! You're favorite thing to do is splash water and get mom and dad wet. You think its hilarious.
Playing Peek-A-Boo is also a fun pass time. You have gotten really good at hiding behind your blanket and your hands. It's just about the cutest thing you've ever done.
You are learning lots of things and very quickly. This is prime time teaching time. I worry a little about what language I should teach you things in. I learned Spanish first and then English, but I didn't have a need for English. With you though, I feel like you need to learn both at the same time. I don't want to confuse you though, but I can already tell you know and understand both languages. You respond well to both. Currently, you are learning things in both.
You know how:
To give besitos - S
Touch your nose - E
Touch your ojos - S
Yay and bravo, both make you clap
I guess we'll just proceed with teaching both at the same time and see how it goes. You're really smart though, I shouldn't worry.

| Your blankie, always by your side! |
Just the other day, daddy thought you to raise your arms in the air when anyone says. "Tada!"
You are a pro at going up and down the stairs
You give belly bumps on command
Kisses when you are feeling nice
And you love to "read" along to books
You've also started "singing" along
You've recently showed interest in feeding yourself with a fork, we are in the VERY early stages of that, but you've mastered feeding yourself food pouches! A sippy cup with a straw is your preffered method of drinking liquids.
You have slowly started weaning yourself off of your blanket and have switched your affections to TWO fluffy yellow ducks. The first is a tiny, armless, matt haired duck you stole from Grandma Fletchers house, it's a sad sight to see. The second is a big, fluffy duck that came with your yellow blanket you love so much. Nightly bedtime routines are pretty comical. You walk around collecting all your items, blanket, little duck, big duck, bottle, and sometimes my pink hairbrush. You refuse to let any of these go, and it's a balancing act to hold you and all these things.
You've been really good about weaning off of your comfort items though. You weaned yourself off of the binky, all on your own. One day, we went to put the binky in your mouth and you just gagged and refused to take it. You never went back. And after a year of carrying your yellow blanket around, you only need for sleep now. You are a good boy, so smart and independent.
Speaking of independent. I am starting to see a lot of me in you. You don't like to hold hands, you don't like to be touched unnecessarily, and you are very independent. You want to do things your way, when YOU are ready to do them. Can't say I blame you. You also don't like wearing socks, and take them off any chance you get. Everyone says you are looking more and more like me, and I gotta say, that makes me very happy. Although, I still only see daddy when I look at you.
Right now, Grandpa Alan and Grandma Hancey watch you on Mondays and you light up when I drop you off in the mornings! You sure do love them. Grandpa Correa, Chuy? I don't know what you'll end up calling him, picks you up at 3 in the afternooon and watches you until I get off of work. You also love him very much. You throw a royal fit when I pick you up, because you want to stay and play with him. It makes my heart so very happy to see what a great relationship you have already with my dad.
I love you so much my boy, you are such a special little guy.
